October is Here!

I’ve been MIA from this blog awhile because so much has been happening in real life. Today is the 5th day of October, and my favorite season is here! Warm though fall is this year, not quite sweater weather just yet. But I’m hopeful.

My lovely companion for the past 4 years is this handsome Fujifilm X-T2. I could write a long love letter about Fuji cameras.

Breakfast be gone!

Getting ready for my favorite season!

My niece H is into all things psychic right now … so she got me into it too.

My Week in Maine with the Canon XA50

My road trip in Maine continues. I spent each day doing what I love doing most ... photographing and filming.

Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Old Orchard Beach, Maine

The pier at Old Orchard Beach has some of the best seats in town. You can lunch here and be surrounded by breathtaking ocean views.

Farewell Martha’s Vineyard

All good things come to an end. After being islanders for a few days, it’s time to board the ferry again for the main land. There’s so much to do on Martha’s Vineyard that a 4-night stay just doesn’t cover it. Hopefully, next time I’m back, it’ll be for a longer visit. This is a short vlog. I didn’t film much that day since it was mostly a travel day. 🙂

Cool Max, Chappy Ferry & Canon XA50

Having rented the Canon XA50 for two weeks last month, I tried to shoot something with it every day. On our last day on the island, we took the Chappy Ferry over to Chappaquiddick and spent the afternoon on Wasque Beach. The more I use the Canon XA50, the more in love with it I am. And now it's back in stock at B&H. Perfect timing! I'd like to think of it as a sign. I believe in signs. :)

Btw, doesn't Max look so cute? The photo above of him always makes me smile. Yes, Max came along on our trip too. I rarely go anywhere the last few years without Max. That means lots and lots of road trips by car vs by air.

A Camera for the Minimalist Filmmaker?

I’ve finally figured out why I like filming with the Canon XA50 so much. It’s an all-in-one camera with everything I need to just go out and film something. Being a solo, minimalist filmmaker with a tiny budget at best, I find this liberating. The less gear I have to bring with me on a film shoot, the better. Sure it’s not a cinema camera. The quality of the footage has a documentary feel about it. But I’m OK with that. If my goal is to document life as is, this is the camera I’d take with me. After 2 years of thinking about it, I’m almost ready to get it. But B&H has had a wait list for the XA50 for months now. And so … the waiting continues.

Meanwhile … I rented it for 2 weeks recently and filmed the hell out of it! 🙂

Happy 4th!

Wink and it’s another July 4 upon us. I know how lucky I am to have my family with me this year. And I’m so grateful. Happy 4th everyone! Have fun & stay safe.

Taken on a July 4 by the Maine Coast many many moons ago. 🙂

Beachy Days Gone By

Summer is here in full swing! The cicadas have come and gone and the air is no longer thick with their mating songs. I find myself missing the cicadas. Now we must wait another 17 years to have them back again. I was in New England recently and took a bunch of photos in between filming for my YouTube vlog. A few days into the trip, I had to look up a Best Buy in Portland, Maine, to buy another external hard drive for storage. Will share some photos here once I have some time to go over the archives. Until then, here are a few memories from another trip with Max when we went to our favorite local beach town, just about 3 hours away.

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

A nice shop owner gave Max a treat. He wouldn’t let go of it and insisted on walking the town with it!
Stubborn boy!

A Lovely Mention in ELLE India Magazine for my Slow Living Silent Vlog

I’ve been a bit morose lately because my YouTube channel seems to have slowed down in growth these past few months. But today, having discovered that there’s a lovely article in ELLE India Magazine that mentions my vlog … the blues are quickly dissipating. Creating these vlogs makes me happy. But I’m even happier knowing that there’s an audience out there who finds my little wabi sabi films somewhat useful in their daily life.

Thank you Gargi Agrawal for this thoughtful and meaningful write-up. I appreciate it so much.
